Post-Honeymoon Lyla Update

When we arrived stateside, we called Erik's parents. Erik's family had Lyla for the 2nd half of our honeymoon. Actually she was with Erik's oldest sister when we called, but we found out that she had a double ear infection! When I talked to my mom about it, she said Thursday night after her nap, Lyla woke up really fussy, crabby and uncomfortable, and feverish! They called the doctor, and she was given ear numbing stuff, and given amoxicillin and tylenol. She haaated the amoxicillin, poor baby! She seemed to be feeling a lot better when we got back, fortunately, but this was her first real sickness, and we weren't here!

She was asleep when we got to the house, but she woke up once in the night, and when she saw us she had this funny smile on her face, like she thought she might be in a dream, it was so cute! The next morning, she was so smily and happy, it was SO wonderful to be reunited with her!

I never did a 9 month update, so I'll do one here briefly. She was 18 lbs 9 oz for weight. I don't remember her height, but she is quite short for her size. Short and stocky, is what the nurse said. And her head is in the 65th percentile ... very big head!

No crawling yet. Lots of rolling. Rolling all around. I know some babies don't crawl until they can walk, and the doctor wasn't concerned, so I am not either. She waves, babbles more, and does this funny thing where she blows her bangs out of her face! That is a really new one. She still loves blowing raspberries, and if you do it, she will imitate you. She also can take her finger and move it up and down on her bottom lip, making her lip flap and make noises while she goes 'buuuhhh'. i don't know what you call that haha. She's also developed a habit of crying like a gremlin, as we call it, when we won't give her something she wants. This is such a fun age, she really explores and creatively plays with her toys, bangs things together, knocks things down, and everything is entertaining for her! She is such a joy, as always!
